(Vegan if you use Vegan Butter)<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Chicken&#8221; and Dumplings<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Ingredients<\/em><br \/>\n<b><u>for dumplings<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>2 Cups Flour<br \/>\n1 Tablespoons Baking Powder<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon salt<br \/>\n\u00bd Stick Butter, (4 tbsp)<br \/>\n\u00be cup soy milk<\/p>\n<p><strong>2023 VERSION UPDATE for DUMPLINGS:<\/strong><br \/>\n2-3 cups gluten free flour<br \/>\n4 teaspoons Baking Powder<br \/>\n4 teaspoons salt<br \/>\n2 packages silken shelf-stable tofu<br \/>\n2 tablespoons red wine vinegar<\/p>\n<p><b><u>for chicken and &#8230; \ud83d\ude42<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n\u00bd stick butter, (4 tbsp)<br \/>\n\u00bd cup onion, chopped<br \/>\n\u00bd cup celery , chopped<br \/>\n\u00bd cup flour<br \/>\n\u00bc teaspoon celery salt<br \/>\n\u00bd teaspoon pepper<br \/>\n8 cups vegetable broth<br \/>\n2 medium carrots, diced<br \/>\n1 pound faux chicken, torn into small pieces<br \/>\n1 Bay Leaf<br \/>\n<strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2023 Dumpling Method (sub for below)<br \/>\ncombine dry ingredients and whisk well.<br \/>\nCombine silken tofu and red wine vinegar in a blender until it looks like greek yogurt<br \/>\nadd wet to dry in stand mixer or mixing bowl, mix well then need.<br \/>\nRoll out&#8230; \u00bc inch thick and either slice or use biscuit cutter (small!) to make the biscuits)<\/p>\n<p>Original version:<br \/>\n1 Combine the dry ingredients for the dumplings in a bowl.<br \/>\n2 Mix the margarine with the dry mixture until crumbly. Add the soy milk, stirring until moistened. Add more soy milk, as needed, if the mixture is too dry.<br \/>\n3 Knead the dough for 30 seconds on a well-floured surface, then roll to 1\/8-inch thickness and cut into 1\/2-inch squares.<br \/>\n4 Place the margarine, onion, and celery for the soup in a large saucepan and saut\u00e9 until the vegetables are soft.<br \/>\n5 Add the flour, salt, and pepper to make a thick paste. Slowly mix in the broth and bring to a boil.<br \/>\n6 Add the carrots, faux chicken, and bay leaf.<br \/>\n7 Add the dumpling squares one at a time, stirring gently. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring often.
